The Rise: a new Musical

In 2016, Graham Lappin sat down at the piano and began writing a song about a young girl sitting on a staircase, watching her Dad at work below in the bakehouse...making tomorrow's bread.

The Rise is a new and original British musical set in Lancashire in 1894 about family, progress and the vital importance of passing it on. A simple story with 7 characters at the turn of the century, showing their challenges and their rise above.

Music is an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. The tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line (melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to be sounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both.
