Families referred by these trusted partners then have the unique opportunity to "shop" for furniture in the Furniture Bank's showroom. Guided by a Furniture Bank volunteer, families typically spend around 15 minutes selecting between 5 to 20 pieces of essential furniture and household items, including beds, dressers, tables, chairs, and other necessities. Critically, the selected furniture is then delivered to their home on the very same day, providing immediate relief and stability.

Donors can schedule convenient pickups (free for less than 10 items placed outside, with a fee for inside pickups or larger loads) or utilize several drop-off locations. They also accept appliances (under 15 years old and in working condition). Commercial and institutional donations from hotels, universities, and furniture stores are also a significant source.

What sets the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio apart from many other furniture banks is its remarkable in-house wood shop. Staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers, this workshop produces a significant portion of the furniture distributed. Last year alone, volunteers crafted over 2,500 pieces of furniture, including bed frames, dressers, and tables, using donated wood.
