The Mendicity Institution is the oldest working charity in Dublin. Established in 1818, it has been in operation for over 200 years creating empowering opportunities for people experiencing homelessness, isolation and marginalization to live better lives.
Services include a food and day service, a workshop and healthcare in partnership with Safetynet Primary Care.
In 2020, Mendicity remained open during several lockdowns, increased opening hours to 7 days a week, installed a shower and laundry facility for those sleeping rough, served over 38,000 meals, facilitated over 400 loads of washing and offered more than 700 showers.
