What's Fresh

We source the best local produce and bring to your door in South Lanarkshire

Who We Are

The Neilson family started milking cows at Park Farm in 1965! Since then, three generations have developed the business, and What's Fresh signifies the next step in promoting sustainable agriculture and showcasing local produce.

The aim of What’s Fresh organization is to bottle their own quality, fresh milk and deliver to families and businesses in East Kilbride and surrounding areas since customers now rightly want to know the provenance and traceability of their food.

Their milk only travels a few meters from the farm to the new dairy so they can be completely transparent with their customers and show them exactly where the milk is coming from and how it is processed – even down to meeting the cows!

They’re also prioritizing sustainable packaging and operations. Annual UK emissions from food manufacture, distribution and retail are equivalent to 15 million tonnes of carbon so with low food miles, returnable glass bottles and reduced food waste, we can do our bit to combat that.”

We all know that milk is a nutrient-rich beverage that provides numerous health benefits and essential nutrients for overall well-being.

Here are some of the benefits and health values associated with milk consumption:

  1. Excellent Source of Calcium: Milk is one of the best dietary sources of calcium, a mineral vital for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. Adequate calcium intake during childhood and adolescence is crucial for optimal bone development, while maintaining calcium intake throughout life helps prevent bone loss and osteoporosis.

  1. Rich in Protein: Milk contains high-quality protein, which is essential for muscle growth, repair, and maintenance. Protein is also important for supporting immune function, hormone production, and enzyme activity within the body.

  1. Vitamins and Minerals: In addition to calcium and protein, milk is a good source of other vitamins and minerals, including vitamin D, vitamin B12, phosphorus, potassium, and riboflavin (vitamin B2). These nutrients play various roles in metabolism, energy production, nerve function, and cell health.

  1. Hydration: Milk is composed mainly of water, making it an effective beverage for staying hydrated. Proper hydration is essential for maintaining optimal bodily functions, regulating body temperature, and supporting overall health.

  1. Bone Health: Along with calcium, milk provides vitamin D, which is necessary for the absorption of calcium and the maintenance of healthy bones. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to weakened bones, increased risk of fractures, and conditions like osteoporosis.

  1. Muscle Recovery: Milk contains a balance of carbohydrates, protein, and electrolytes, making it an effective post-exercise recovery beverage. Consuming milk after physical activity can help replenish glycogen stores, repair muscle tissue, and promote muscle recovery and growth.

  1. Weight Management: Some research suggests that consuming dairy products, including milk, as part of a balanced diet may be associated with better weight management outcomes. The protein and calcium in milk can help increase satiety, promote muscle mass maintenance, and support metabolic processes involved in fat breakdown.

  1. Heart Health: While debates exist regarding the relationship between saturated fat in dairy products and heart health, some studies suggest that moderate consumption of milk and dairy products may be associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. Components such as calcium, potassium, and bioactive peptides found in milk may contribute to this potential benefit.

It's important to note that individual responses to milk consumption can vary based on factors such as lactose intolerance, allergies, and dietary preferences. However, for many people, incorporating milk into a balanced diet can provide valuable nutrients and contribute to overall health and well-being.
