ART Think 2026: Unearthing The Suffragette Spirit

The Peoples Hub invites artists, creatives, and change-makers to join a worldwide movement to redefine history and champion women's rights through the power of Art for Change. To achieve this vision, we are launching the ART Think Project 2026, a dedicated worldwide exhibition focusing on Adas Army "Herstory," women's suffrage, and the enduring spirit of resistance. Furthermore, your work will directly support the vital Unearthing the Suffragette Spirit project, consequently helping us to share the untold stories of working-class suffragettes and forgotten heroines with the world.

For example, did you know Emmeline Pankhurst's sister, Mary Jane was arrested on Black Friday after being assaulted, sent to prison, released under the 'The Cat And Mouse Act' and died just a few weeks later, on Christmas Day.

Drawing a direct lesson from the consequences of the Peterloo Massacre, the WSPU applied the lessons from Peterloo by anticipating that authorities would meet their peaceful protests with violence. This foreknowledge was confirmed on "Black Friday," November 18, 1910, when 300 women marching on Parliament endured six hours of brutal police response, which featured beatings and sexual assault. Crucially, the suffragettes were not caught unawares like the crowds at St Peter's Field. They meticulously documented the assaults to create an undeniable public record. By publicising the horror and using the entire episode as a powerful propaganda tool, the WSPU successfully executed a strategy that forced the government to reveal its own cruelty, thereby justifying their next, more powerful, tactic.

  • Suffrage & Herstory: Unearthing and celebrating figures and movements often overlooked in traditional narratives.

  • The Suffragette Spirit: Visualizing the core tenacity, courage, and collective action of women driving societal change.

  • Redefining Power: Challenging limits and redefining the boundaries placed upon women globally.

Therefore, we welcome submissions from writers, poets, authors, cartoonists, visual artists, singers, musicians, and filmmakers. As we strive to capture the full spectrum of creative voices.

Submission Guidelines & Exposure

 

Your contribution to ART Think 2026 will be part of a high-profile, international campaign designed to provide maximum impact and exposure for your work and the cause.

Requirement Detail Impact / Purpose
Eligible Creators Artists, Creatives, Writers, Poets, Authors, Cartoonists, Singers, Musicians. Embracing a wide range of voices and disciplines for powerful, multi-modal storytelling.
Media Type Digital art, poetry, essays, short stories, songs, musical pieces, and short films/videos. Ensuring adaptability for online publication and global digital distribution.
Video/Film Length Maximum 2 minutes (120 seconds). Optimizing content for social media impact and campaign sharing.
Prior Publication Previously published work is accepted, provided the artist retains publication rights. Encouraging submissions of existing work that aligns with our mission.
Entry Fee $25 USD (per submission). Covers essential administrative costs, form hosting, and intensive worldwide marketing efforts for the final publication.

 

Worldwide Publication & Rights

 

All accepted work will be published and marketed worldwide across The Peoples Hub's campaign channels. Specifically, this includes dedicated social media drives, press releases, and furthermore, inclusion in the final digital ART Think 2026 showcase.

  • Maximum Exposure: We guarantee your work will be aligned with all our campaigns. Consequently providing maximum reach across our networks and partners.

  • Artist Retains Copyright: You, the creator, retain the copyright to your original work. By submitting, you grant The Peoples Hub a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to publish, display, distribute, and promote your work specifically for the purpose of the ART Think project, its campaigns, and promotion of The Peoples Hub's mission.
